About the school
Friends School Kamusinga (FSK), popularly known as "Kamu" or "Frischka," is a national boys' boarding secondary school located on the slopes of Mt. Elgon in Kimilili, Bungoma County. Founded in 1956 by Englishman Allan Bradley as a transfer unit of Friends School Kaimosi, the institution operates within the Quaker (Friends Africa Mission) educational tradition. Bradley remained principal through the school's formative years; in his honour, the school holds "Allan Bradley Day," an annual sports tournament that began in 2006.
The school sits on a 58-acre campus. In the 2024 KCSE, 413 candidates posted a mean score of 9.8862 with 47 A grades and 111 A-, with more than 96% achieving the minimum university entry grade. The school was ranked 12th nationally in 2024.
Kamusinga is also one of Kenya's leading sports schools, having won the national secondary schools hockey championship more than 19 times. Notable alumni include the late Chris Kirubi (businessman and philanthropist), Senator Kenneth Lusaka, ambassador Cleopa Mailu, and athlete Tylor Ongwae. The school motto is "Use Common Sense."
