About the school
Kapsabet Boys High School is a national boys' boarding secondary school located along the Eldoret-Chavakali Road in Kapsabet, Nandi County, approximately 40 kilometres from Eldoret. Founded in 1925 as the Government African School, it is one of the oldest secondary schools in Kenya and was originally established to serve African students during the colonial period.
The school sits on an 80-acre plot in Township sub-location, Emgwen Constituency. In the 2024 KCSE, the school recorded a mean score of 10.16. In the 2025 KCSE, Kapsabet had 606 candidates with 49 scoring A grade, 181 scoring A-, and 174 scoring B+, recording a mean score of 9.9 and a 99.84% university transition rate.
The school motto is "Strive to Excel." The current Chief Principal is Mr. Kipchumba Maiyo (OGW, MBS). Notable alumni include the late Nicholas Biwott, former Cabinet Minister.
