About the school

Alliance Girls' High School is a national girls' boarding secondary school in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, within walking distance of its brother school Alliance High School. Founded in 1948 by the Alliance of Protestant Missions, it was the first institution of higher secondary education for African girls in Kenya. Before independence it was called African Girls High School.

The school sits on 71 acres of land originally donated by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa. In the 2025 KCSE, the school recorded a mean score of approximately 10.47 with 128 A grades, 141 A-, and 92 B+ from 461 candidates. Admission is by national selection through a quota system drawing students from across Kenya.

The school's crest features a white torch with a yellow flame superimposed over St. Andrew's Cross on a green background. The motto "Walk in the Light" is set beneath. The current Chief Principal is Mrs. Margaret Njeru.
