About the school
Alliance High School is a national boys' boarding secondary school in Kikuyu, Kiambu County. Founded on 1 March 1926 by the Alliance of Protestant Missions, it was the first school in Kenya to offer secondary education to Africans.
The school held the top national position in KCSE results continuously from 1960 to 1985 and remains one of the most academically distinguished institutions in the country. In the 2024 KCSE, 452 candidates achieved a mean score of 10.31, with 100 students earning A grades and 134 earning A-. Over 98% of graduates typically proceed to Kenyan universities.
Admission is by national selection with a quota system ensuring representation from every county in Kenya. The school operates under the Competency-Based Education framework with three pathways at senior level: STEM, Social Sciences, and Arts & Sports Science. The school motto is "Strong to Serve".
